The 2016 Bottlesford stud open day attracted strong interest from a steady flow of visitors for the day. The Koopmans sold Murray Grey bulls to an impressive $8,000 high, paid for Bottlesford Kudos – a silver bull in the top 1pc of the breed for Supermarket and European Union heavy steer Breedplan indexes. Kudos was bought by the Wallawong Murray Grey stud, Gunnedah, NSW. Bottlesford has retained a one-quarter semen share, and are eagerly anticipating his first calves, after using him as a yearling.
The stud’s PTIC commercial cows and heifers also turned plenty of heads with 15 selling at $1900 each. They went to new and repeat buyers from the York Peninsula, Eyre Peninsula, Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills.
